What is anticipatory bail?

Anticipatory bail is a pre-arrest order under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (formerly Section 438 CrPC). It protects a person who has reason to believe they may be arrested on a non-bailable accusation.
