DNLU Jabalpur Hosts Advanced WTO Trade Remedies Course in Collaboration with CWS, CRIT, IIFT, and Ministry of Commerce

Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, successfully concluded its prestigious “Advanced Credit Course on Trade Remedies” from May 2–4, 2025. The program was organized by the Centre for Studies in International Trade and Investment Laws (CITIL) at DNLU, in collaboration with the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS), the Centre for Research on International Trade (CRIT), the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

Inauguration and Leadership

The course was inaugurated under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor of DNLU, and Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar. Mr. Utkarsh K. Mishra, Director of CITIL and Assistant Professor at DNLU, served as the Course and Event Director. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Gargi Chakrabarti, Associate Professor, and Dr. Isha Wadhwa, Assistant Professor at DNLU.

Expert Sessions and Course Content

The three-day intensive course featured sessions by distinguished experts, including:

The course provided a comprehensive analysis of legal, economic, and policy aspects of trade remedies under WTO law. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on anti-dumping measures, subsidies, countervailing duties, and safeguard mechanisms. The program also included practical case studies and simulations, offering hands-on experience in international trade litigation.

Student Participation and Publication Release

Law students from across the country participated enthusiastically, gaining valuable insights into trade remedy mechanisms and the evolving global trade landscape. During the event, the CITIL Yearbook 2025 was officially released. The Editors-in-Chief of the publication are Ms. Poorva Sharma, Convenor, and Mr. Viraj Lahane, Co-convenor of CITIL.

This successful collaboration between DNLU, CWS, CRIT, IIFT, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry underscores the importance of academic engagement in shaping India’s trade policy and legal expertise in international trade law.
