January 24, 2025 – In a significant step towards advancing legal education and fostering academic collaboration, Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra National Law University (NLU), Nagpur. The MoU was formally executed at a ceremony held at the NLU Nagpur campus in the presence of distinguished academicians and administrators.
Leadership Driving Excellence
Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic legal education, has strengthened its institutional ties through a strategic collaboration. Adding to its series of partnerships with esteemed institutions, DNLU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra National Law University (NLU), Nagpur. This agreement aims to foster exchange programs for students and faculty, facilitate collaborative research and publications, and establish joint training and academic initiatives.
Established in 2018 under the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 2018, DNLU is dedicated to advancing legal education and upholding constitutional values. The university is guided by an eminent leadership team, including Hon’ble Shri Justice J.K. Maheshwari, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as its Visitor; Hon’ble Shri Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, as its Chancellor; Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha as its Vice-Chancellor; and Dr. Praveen Tripathi as Registrar. DNLU offers diverse programs, including B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D.
NLU, Nagpur, established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014, has made significant contributions to legal education under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, its Vice-Chancellor, and Shri Vivek B. Gavhane, its Registrar.
Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, a distinguished academician, has held several prestigious roles, including Vice-Chancellor of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, and Registrar of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. A recipient of the ‘Commonwealth Fellowship, UK’ (2009–2010) and the ‘Meritorious Law Teacher Award’ (2019) from the Government of Telangana, Prof. Kumar has been instrumental in shaping legal education in India.
Strategic Vision of the MoU
The MoU was formally signed on January 24, 2025, by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha and Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar at signing ceremony held at the NLU Nagpur campus in presence of Shri Vivek B. Gavhane, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Pratap Tiwari, Proctor and Dr. Chamarti Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Registrar (Academics).
This collaboration seeks to leverage the strengths of both institutions in capacity building, education, and research in the legal field. The agreement envisions exchange programs for students and faculty, collaborative research projects, and joint academic events such as seminars, conferences, and moot court competitions. Prof. Vijender Kumar’s extensive expertise is anticipated to significantly contribute to DNLU’s growth and academic excellence.
