How Engaging in Co-curricular Activities Enhances Career Building

Engaging oneself in the co-curricular activities is very necessary because they are designed to complement and balance the academic curriculum, enabling every student to get an opportunity to learn beyond subjects. The curriculum is designed to impart theoretical knowledge to students related to various subjects of the law, such as constitutional law, criminal law, company law, etc., but the study of law is not only concerned with the theoretical knowledge, rather more with the practical exposure which should be provided by each law school for the personality and career enhancement of the students.

Attributes Developed Through Co-Curricular Activities

There are many attributes which are to be learnt, such as social skills, intellectual skills, moral values, personality progress and character appeal. A holistic approach should be the teaching pedagogy of the institutes. The grooming of the students is primarily done by involving them with such other multi-disciplinary activities, such as engaging them with the debate clubs, media clubs.

This engagement will develop qualities such as teamwork, leadership skills, problem-solving, organisational skills, event planning, critical thinking, decision-making, fundraising experience, time management, hard work, business skills, and active listening skills. We can realise that this is one of the rich resources.

Role of Innovative Pedagogy and Global Exposure

Besides the expert faculties in a good law school, students also look for an advanced learning management system whereby the responsive curriculum is designed and the innovative pedagogy is incorporated in the teaching.

Since Global Immersion is what every student looks forward to for his/ her career building, having command over any of the foreign languages enhances hard skills which are constantly on the rise and usually pay better! This will also demonstrate your word work, interests in self-development and cultural awareness.

Being active members of the debating team, drama clubs add up to time management skills, or you can say to showcase your specific hard or soft skills. This builds strong networking with the students having a strong rapport with the faculty. Involving oneself with voluntary work demonstrates motivation, a self-starter attitude, teamwork, work ethics and organisational skills.

Peer Tutoring, Internships and Career Development

One can also do peer tutoring, a specific way of giving time to others, since this will show employers that one is not only knowledgeable in any given area but also that he/she is willing and able to share that knowledge and help others grow; moreover, this will be one’s specific expertise, flexibility and communication.

Doing internships is also a career booster; this will improve research skills and provide field knowledge. Career building involves engagement with extra achievements as well; one should not forget to take a step forward in participating in the fellowship programs, Olympiads, stipends, internships, and internships with the Legal Services Authority.

Embracing Technology and E-Learning

Being technologically sound is the need of the hour. Besides learning from books, focus should be made on e-learning, and the schools in these times are adopting this mode for teaching. We have already seen during the pandemic that those who are technology-friendly have been able to survive well during those hard times, while those who are devoid are struggling hard to cope. These are relatively hard traits but will be valued a lot once you have hold of them!
