The honour was conferred during AIIMAS’s 5th Anniversary Celebration, titled “Sammaan – Honoring the Path-breakers of Mediation,” held on November 5, 2025, at the SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi.
The event was graced by Hon’ble Shri Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Judge, Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest, and Hon’ble Shri Justice Rajendra Menon, Chairperson, Armed Forces Tribunal, as the Guest of Honour.
In his keynote address, Justice Vijay Bishnoi emphasised that mediation is not just an alternative but a complementary pillar of the justice system—one that enhances access to justice and fosters harmony in society. Echoing this sentiment, Justice Rajendra Menon underscored the importance of cultivating a culture of mediation at both institutional and community levels to ensure speedy, cost-effective, and amicable dispute resolution in India.
The Sammaan ceremony recognised 20 distinguished individuals from across the nation for their exceptional efforts in advancing mediation and ADR. The event marked five years of AIIMAS’s commitment to promoting peaceful conflict resolution and nurturing a mediation-oriented legal culture in India.
Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha was honoured for his visionary leadership in elevating mediation as a vital component of the justice delivery system and for his unwavering advocacy of empathy-driven conflict resolution. His initiatives to integrate mediation education into law curricula have been widely appreciated in academic and legal circles, making mediation more accessible to students and young professionals.
With over three decades of distinguished academic and administrative experience, Prof. Sinha has previously served as Director of the Indian Law Institute, taught at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, and contributed significantly to legal scholarship and research. His leadership continues to inspire the next generation of legal minds at DNLU and beyond.
AIIMAS, a leading non-profit organisation, is devoted to spreading awareness and education about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods such as mediation, arbitration, international commercial arbitration, conciliation, and neutral evaluation. Beyond ADR, AIIMAS actively supports initiatives in science, health, social welfare, charity, and environmental protection. It works closely with professionals from diverse backgrounds to bridge communication gaps and meet the evolving needs of the legal and corporate sectors in India and abroad.
The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Neena Khare, Director, AIIMAS—a certified mediator who has played a pivotal role in advancing mediation practices nationwide.
