Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, is organising its 1st CCI-MNLUCS National Antitrust Moot Court Competition 2025 scheduled to be held on 6th–7th and 28th September 2025.

About the University

The Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, has been established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014, and is recognized by the BCI. It commenced its operation from March 16, 2017. It is established with the intent of imparting quality legal education, to develop advanced clinical pedagogies, and research. The University also imbu values of professionalism coupled with various skill sets required for the profession of advocacy.

About 1st CCI-MNLUCS National Antitrust Moot Court Competition

1st MNLU-CS National Antitrust Moot Court Competition, 2025, organized by the Moot Court Association and Centre for Competition Law and Policy (CCLP) of Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (MNLU-CS) in association with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), marks a significant step in promoting legal scholarship and advocacy in the field of competition law. The Competition aims to encourage participants to engage with intricate antitrust issues that are contemporary and jurisprudentially evolving.

India’s competition law framework, though relatively young, has rapidly gained prominence, with the CCI’s adjudicatory and advocacy roles significantly impacting the business environment and consumer welfare. Against this backdrop, the competition offers a platform for law students across the country to develop high-level research and advocacy skills while contributing to the academic discourse on antitrust law.

6th -7th September 2025 (Online Preliminary and Quarter Final Rounds) & 28th September 2025 (Offline Semi Final and Final Rounds).

Hybrid.

Venue for offline rounds

Campus of Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra –431005.

Eligibility Criteria

Participants must be enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year undergraduate law degree program. A maximum of two teams per institution shall be allowed. Only students currently pursuing an undergraduate law course are eligible to participate.

Team Composition

Each team shall comprise two to three members: two designated speakers and one researcher. In case of a two-member team, both members shall act as speakers and one of them shall act as a researcher. The team composition and roles must be submitted at the time of registration and shall not be altered, except with the explicit permission of the Organising Committee in case of extenuating circumstances. All team members must belong to the same institution. A total of 40 teams will be selected for the competition on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Registration

Two-Stage Registration Fee:

  • Stage I: A registration fee of INR 4500 per team shall be payable at the time of initial registration for the virtual rounds.
  • Stage II: Teams qualifying for the offline Semi-Finals and Final rounds shall pay an additional fee of INR 3000 (including food and accommodation) before the commencement of Stage II.

Communication

Each team shall designate a primary contact person in the registration form. All official communication regarding the Competition shall be sent via email to the designated contact person, who shall be responsible for relaying the information to the rest of the team.

  • Last Date for Seeking Clarifications: 31st July 2025
  • Release of clarifications: 08th August 2025
  • Last Date for memorial submission in Soft Copy: 31st August 2025
  • One-Hour Mandatory Online Training Session on SCC Online for all the participants: 4th September 2025
  • Inaugural Ceremony: 5th September 2025
  • Preliminary Rounds 1 and 2: 6th September 2025
  • Quarter-final rounds: 7th September 2025
  • Last Date for memorial submission in Hard Copy: 20th September 2025
  • Semi-Final, Final rounds, and Valedictory: 28th September 2025

Prizes

  • Winner: A Trophy, a cash prize of ₹40,000/-, & 1- year complimentary subscriptions to SCC Online Web Edition worth ₹24,000/- to each member of the winning team.
  • Runner-up: A Trophy and a cash prize of ₹20,000/-.
  • Best Speaker: A Trophy and a cash prize of ₹10,000/-.
  • Best Memorial (Informant): A Trophy and a cash prize of ₹10,000/-.
  • Best Memorial (Opposite Party): A Trophy and a Cash prize of ₹10,000/-.
  • One month access to the SCC Online Web Edition to all participants valued at ₹1099/- each.
  • All participating teams will be provided with a certificate of participation or a certificate of merit in accordance with the performance of the team.
