Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, marked a momentous occasion in its institutional journey with the launch of its first academic and cultural fest, REVA, on April 18, 2025. The fest stands as a symbol of knowledge, expression, and unity—rooted deeply in the cultural, linguistic, and geographical identity of Jabalpur.
The Significance Behind “REVA”
The name REVA draws its essence from Sanskrit, meaning movement, agility, and vibrance. It also pays tribute to the River Narmada, locally revered as Reva, which flows through Jabalpur and symbolizes spiritual and cultural continuity. Moreover, Reva is also a name of a classical Raag in Indian music, reflecting the harmonious integration of tradition and creativity that the fest aimed to achieve.
This inaugural fest was envisioned as a platform to showcase both academic brilliance and cultural spirit, a vision that was realized through the unwavering support of Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar, whose guidance played a pivotal role in shaping the event.
A Mesmerising Start with ‘Saanjh-e-Sukoon’ and Piyush Mishra
The opening night, titled Saanjh-e-Sukoon, delivered a magical experience with the presence of the celebrated Indian actor, singer, and lyricist, Shri Piyush Mishra. His interaction with the audience, interwoven with soulful renditions and reflections on art and society, created an atmosphere of inspiration and introspection. It was an evening that will be remembered as a cultural milestone in the university’s history.
Academic Events: Engaging the Intellect
REVA 2025 brought together sharp legal minds from across the country for a series of competitive academic events. These included:
- Extempore Moot Court Competition – simulating courtroom dynamics on the spot,
- Crime Scene Investigation – testing forensic and legal analysis,
- Deal Negotiation Competition – focusing on strategy and legal drafting,
- Conventional Debate – encouraging reasoned argument on contemporary issues,
- Startup Competition – inviting innovative legal-business ideas,
- Youth Parliament – promoting policy-oriented thinking and expression.
Each competition was designed to challenge participants’ critical reasoning, advocacy, and teamwork, reinforcing DNLU’s commitment to academic excellence.
Cultural Events: Celebration of Art and Performance
REVA was equally alive with cultural expression, offering an impressive lineup of creative performances and entertainment. From dance showcases and musical DJ nights to stand-up comedy by a renowned artist, the fest brought students together in celebration and joy.
A highlight was Vaak-Yudh, an oratory discussion series that welcomed eminent speakers from the political sphere and the legal fraternity, making space for dialogue, dissent, and ideas that resonate beyond the fest.
Student Force Behind REVA’s Success
The success of REVA was a result of tireless efforts by the Student Bar Association (SBA), whose leadership brought the event to life with remarkable energy and dedication.
- Ms. Apoorva Singh Rathaur, President of SBA, led the team with vision and poise,
- Mr. Divyansh Gupta, Vice-President, ensured seamless coordination,
- Mr. Divyanshu Chauhan, Treasurer, managed operations and logistics effectively.
The students were constantly guided by the committed faculty members:
- Mr. Shashank Pathak, Fest Convenor,

- Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Faculty Coordinator.
This collaboration between students and mentors created a blueprint for excellence, setting high standards for future editions of the fest.
A New Chapter in DNLU’s Journey
REVA 2025 was more than an event; it was a celebration of identity, knowledge, and community. By bringing together law students from across India and showcasing the talent within its own campus, DNLU Jabalpur reaffirmed its place not only as an academic institution but as a cultural and intellectual hub.
The legacy of REVA has only just begun, and like the river it’s named after, it promises to keep flowing—fueling ideas, art, and ambition with every edition.
